On October 21, Wedgewood announced a U.S. recall of selected unexpired compounded veterinary medicines shipped between February 18 and October 6, 20261. Owners who have affected product are instructed to stop using it, keep it and contact recall support1. Contact the prescribing veterinarian if your Doberman is receiving an affected medicine; Wedgewood says individual treatment decisions should be made with that veterinarian2.

Check the product and lot

Wedgewood’s SKU & Lot Lookup lets you search by product name, SKU or lot number and expand a product’s lot list3. Compare the name, strength, formulation and lot on your label with the listing.

These are selected examples from the lookup, marked “Data as of Oct 21, 2026” when checked on October 253. They are not a complete list.

Our table contains only a few examples. It does not cover every affected medication, strength or lot. If your Doberman’s medicine is not shown, do not assume it is unaffected. Check Wedgewood’s full product and lot list.

You can also check your medication’s lot number directly on Wedgewood’s consumer recall website. Enter the lot number from your medication label. Unlike the product list, this site returns a message stating whether the number you entered is included in the recall4.

Use Wedgewood’s recall instructions

Wedgewood’s information page says no action is required unless you receive an official Recall Notice identifying affected lots in your possession2. The dated announcement separately instructs owners with affected product to stop use1. If your lot matches the lookup but you have not received a notice, contact recall support and your prescriber to clarify the instructions for your supply. Not receiving a notice does not establish that your lot is unaffected.

Recall support: 866-562-5931, Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–9 p.m. Eastern Time; Saturday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Eastern Time2. For reimbursement instructions, Wedgewood directs owners to its official consumer recall website2. Follow the notice’s instructions for keeping affected medication apart from usable stock2.

Suspected side effects, lack of effectiveness or product defects can also be reported to FDA through its animal-drug reporting page5.

Why Wedgewood recalled these medicines

Wedgewood attributes the recall to concerns about the reliability of some laboratory testing data and the possibility of medication being weaker or stronger than intended1. The notice identifies ineffective treatment as a potential consequence of low potency, and toxicity or overdose as potential consequences of high potency1.

The company reported 98 complaints, seven classified as serious, in its October 21 announcement1. The announcement gives no species or individual case details for those complaints1. Wedgewood’s information page separately says the company has not detected a rise in complaints or adverse-event reports linked to the affected medicines2. These statements describe different things: a count of reports and a claimed trend. Neither supplies a Doberman-specific injury estimate. FDA’s general reporting guidance cautions that a report does not by itself establish that a drug caused the event6.
